Yadav rallies to clinch title

Ruthvika upsets Shriyanshi to wear girls' U-19 crown

Ansal Yadav clawed back from an opening game loss to wear the boys’ under-19 crown in the 13th Union Bank All-India junior-ranking badminton tournament here on Saturday.

The sixth-seeded Uttar Pradesh lad showed fine composure in defeating fourth seed Daniel Farid S of Karnataka 13-21, 21-12, 21-19 at the KBA courts.

Siril Varma took the under-17 title, overcoming a mid-match dip in form to beat the talented Lakshya Sen 21-15, 19-21, 21-8.

Sixth seed Ruthvika caused an upset to clinch the girls’ under-19 title, the Andhra Pradesh lass downing top seed Shriyanshi Pardeshi of Air India 21-14, 21-19.
