At least six cars and some bikes parked on 6th ‘B’ Main, HRBR Layout, 2nd Block, were submerged and vehicle owners spent close to five hours to retrieve them.

The basements of about seven houses in the same street were flooded as sewage water spilled from manholes. Keeping aside their daily chores, the affected residents were seen pumping out the dirty water on Thursday.

Anilesh Seth, one of them, said: “The drawing room, the library and the garage in our house were flooded. We kept pumping out water with buckets at 1 am. We could not sleep peacefully.”

Sewage water from a nearby storm water inundated about 50 houses at Ambedkar Nagar, Yelahanka New Town. Yelahanka MLA, SR Vishwanath, visited the spot and assured the residents that steps would be taken to improve the civic infrastructure in the area.

Residents of Koramangala were frustrated that water had flooded their homes, especially in 4th Block. They demanded the Koramangala subdivision Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE), SS Pujari, to immediately take action to solve the flooding.

There were reports that residents had a heated argument with Pujari and snatched the key of his car when he came for inspection on Thursday. But Pujari denied the reports and told Deccan Herald: “They just requested me to take action. Water has already been pumped out from all the affected houses. Steps will be taken to remodel the SWD located nearby as water comes from there.”
