Damini, Likith are declared the best

Basavanagudi Aquatic Centre, with 494 points to their credit, emerged the overall champions while Likith SP (131 points) and Damini K Gowda (85 points) bagged the best individual swimmer awards at the conclusion of the three-day State Senior Aquatic Championship held at the Basavanagudi Aquatic Centre here on Wednesday. 

Arvind M and Malavika V, meanwhile, hogged the limelight by setting new meet records.
BAC’s Arvind erased the previous meet record set in 50 metres backstroke by clocking 27.74 seconds for his gold while Malavika won the 400 metres freestyle contest in a record timing of 4:35.76 seconds.

The BAC ‘A’ ruled the roost in the relay event, taking home the men’s (4:15.33) and women’s (4:51.10) 4x100 metres freestyle gold.

Damini ended the championship on a high clinching the 200 metres butterfly gold in 2:25.49 seconds.

In the 400 metres men’s freestyle, Mohammed Yaqoob Saleem of Dolphin Aquatics struck gold in 4:19.69 to take his gold medal tally to four.
