Parking restrictions for CLT20 matches

The traffic police have imposed curbs on movement of vehicles and parking near the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, in view of the Champions League T20 cricket matches.

The matches are on Monday,  Thursday, Saturday, September 30 and Oct 4. Parking will be banned on Queen’s Road, between CTO Circle and Queen’s Circle; on MG Road, between Anil Kumble Circle and Queen’s Circle; Link Road between MG Road and Cubbon Road; Raj Bhavan Road, T Chowdiah Road and Race Course Road; Central Street; Cubbon Road, between BRV Circle and Dickenson Road junction, between Kamaraj Road junction and Dickenson Road junction; Madras Bank Road, between SBI Circle and Ashirvadam Circle; Museum Road, between MG Road and Madras Bank Road, till Residency Road; Kasturba Road, between Queen’s Circle and Hudson Circle; Grand Road, between Siddalingaiah Circle and Raja Ram Mohan Roy Circle; inside Cubbon Park on King’s Road, in front of Press Club, Bal Bhavan and Fountain Road.

Alternative arrangement

Parking facility has been provided at the St Joseph’s Indian High School grounds, inside St Mark’s Cathedral and on the first floor of Shivajinagar Bus Stand. 

Public should reach the stadium by BMTC buses due to lack of parking space nearby as the Metro rail project is in progress. The BMTC will ply more Big 10 buses to various destinations after the matches.

Police will tighten security in around the stadium. A total of 712 policemen of various ranks, including three DCPs, 14 ACPs, 83 PSIs, 70 ASIs, 140 HCs, 281 PCs and 46 policemen in civilian clothes will be deployed. Six platoons of KSRP and two platoons of Rapid Action Force will be stationed near the stadium.

Armed guards will man the stadium. Also, 86 CCTV cameras will be installed.There will be three layers of frisking — one at Mahatma Gandhi statue, another at the gates, the third at entry points for spectators. Bomb detection and disposal squads will be constantly checking for explosives.

Police will use sniffer dogs to trace suspicious objects, arms, weapons and explosives. Access control system will be put up to screen every individual who gains entry into the stadium and those coming out. Metal detectors will identify arms and explosives.

Carrying the following items into the stadium has been banned: cigarettes, lighters, match boxes, cameras, binoculars, laptops, tablets, food packets from outside, musical instruments, sharp-edged weapons, water bottles, weapons, handbags, helmets, liquor bottles, medicine bottles, colour powders, crackers, perfumes, umbrellas, make-up kits, battery-powered torches, and toys.
