Siddu will decide on DyCM post: Digvijaya

Digvijaya Singh, in charge of the Congress in the State, said on Wednesday that the party had empowered Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to decide on creating the post of deputy chief minister.

Singh told reporters that it was the chief minister’s prerogative to create the post of deputy chief minister, to include or drop members from his cabinet and expand it.

Some of the members of the Cabinet could be efficient and some not so efficient. It was for the chief minister to decide on retaining them or dropping them, Singh said.

On the issue of banning Sri Rama Sene in the State, Singh said the statements by Sene chief Pramod Mutalik were highly inflammatory. But banning an organisation was not the solution to incidents of communal violence. There was a need to act against those involved in incidents of communal violence, he said.

‘No good days’
He said the BJP, which came to power at the Centre by promising ‘ache din’ (good days) for the people, could not replicate its performance in the byelections. The party lost seats it had won earlier. People have realised that good days have not come for them, but for the BJP, he lamented.

The BJP could win three seats in the Assembly byelections in Uttar Pradesh. The ‘Love Jihad’ campaign launched by the party could not yield results and people chose communal harmony, he said.
