Last Updated 07 September 2014, 21:13 IST

Self-proclaimed godman Nithyananda will be subjected to potency test on Monday at the Victoria Hospital.

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) on Friday issued him a notice to appear for the test on Monday. A CID officer said on Sunday that they consulted the doctors at the Victoria Hospital and the potency test would be conducted by a four-member team comprising a forensic medicine expert, a urologist, a psychiatrist and a general physician.

“It is not yet know when the test will be conducted but it is expected to take place around 9.30 am. We expect the godman to co-operate with the medical officials to carry out the test. If he fails to attend the test, strict action will be taken against him after consulting the senior authorities,” the official said.

An NRI woman devotee had lodged a complaint against the godman allegeing that he sexually abused her during her stay in the ashram at Bidadi.

Nithyananda had approached the Supreme Court challenging the order of Karnataka High Court which directed him to take the test. But the apex court ruled that the godman will have to undergo the test.
