Once worn by sporty persons or those who love lounging about the pool, pool sliders these days have become the most talked about fashionable footwear.

If you are fond of the designer brand Zara, then visit the store near you as it is flooded with these wide-strapped sandals in different varieties. Interestingly, it is no longer a rubber sandal but leather and metals too have become a part of it. Pool sliders have become a rage after being seen on international runways as well as Indian fashion shows. “Pool sliders should spell chic comfort and be colourful for a youthful look.
They should be sturdy, light, soft and have a cushioned sole for maximum foot support,” says Anupam Bansal, executive director, Liberty Group. But a spokesperson for the popular sportswear brand Nike points out that a pool sliders should be water-resistant and have good traction.

Since it is all about looks, pool sliders in leather with some metallic element are a huge hit as these team well with casual dresses.

“These are multi-purpose footwear that go well with the boho-chic look. The cross strapped version of pool sliders is best for this season. Even neon hues and metallic pool sliders can add the much needed zing to your casual dresses. Also, glittery straps, a smart buckle or floral accessory on the strap can help you make a cool statement” says Bansal.

“Pool sliders can be paired with almost everything – from dresses to shorts and denims. They are great for a casual look so team them up with shorts, skinny jeans, jumpsuits, short summery dresses,” says the Nike spokesperson.

Footwear manufactures are sure the fashion of pool sliders is here to stay for long.“Yes, the functional flat pool sliders are here to stay! As fashion increasingly veers towards comfort and androgynous styling, the new fashionista’s must-have, pool sliders will continue to rule the roost,” says Bansal.
