NK-bound luxury buses to continue plying from KBS

Last Updated 02 September 2014, 19:15 IST

Passengers travelling by luxury buses of the KSRTC to north Karnataka region and other places like Hassan, Davangere, Chikmagalur, Mangalore and Tumkur need not to worry as Airavat and Rajahamsa services to these places will continue to ply from the Kempegowda Bus Station (KBS).

Only the express bus services are being shifted to Peenya Bus Stand from September 10.

Aiming to decongest the KBS and facilitate the ongoing Metro construction work in Majestic area, the Peenya Bus Stand was inaugurated recently.

It will be made operational on September 10 with the shifting of 1,021 express bus schedules to north Karnataka and other places to Peenya in a phased manner.

However, given the fact that it will be difficult for many commuters to go to Peenya to board buses, the authorities have planned to ply 38 Samparka Sarige buses of the BMTC for ferrying the commuters in both the directions.

These buses will be operated between KBS and Peenya on the lines of the ones being operated between KBS and the Satellite bus stand on Mysore Road. Further, the fare will be reduced for the buses shifted to Peenya.

With this, even the buses operating from Nelamangala depot to Mysore and some inter-state routes like Tirupati and Tamil Nadu will be operated from Peenya bus stand via the ring road.

Despite these arrangements, traffic remains chaotic around the Kempegowda Bus Stand, hampering smooth operation of the buses and inconveniencing the passengers.
