Eviction of encroached land will continue: DC

Deputy Commissioner Anurag Tewari has said that the encroached government land is being cleared following the directions of the government and High Court. Those who are opposing the drive may approach the court.

He was speaking at a review meeting chaired by District-in-Charge Secretary Rajkumar Khatri here on Saturday, he said that the drive will continue.

Zilla Panchayat President Chodumada Shareen Subbaiah appealed to the district administration to stop the drive.

The DC said “the High Court has directed the State government to clear the encroached land. The government has been seeking report on the progress of the drive. Meeting is held once is 15 days to review the progress at the state-level.

About 19,000 acre land has been encroached in the district. The list of encroachers were prepared before I came to the district. The eviction drive is being taken up as per the list,” he added.

“If the encroachers fail to extend their hand with the district administration, then criminal case will have to be filed. People can approach the court and get stay order. We will stop the drive only with the stay order,” the DC said.

When the issue of shortage of sand and gravel was brought to the notice of the meeting, the DC said that sand mining is not allowed during monsoon. The problem will be solved in the next two days.
