Two government employees held for accepting bribe

 The Lokayukta police have arrested two government employees in separate cases for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe.

In the first case, a Bescom junior assistant was caught red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 2,000 from a labour contractor on Monday. According to the police, G Thiruruvam, a resident of R T Nagar, had approached Bescom junior assistant (C-5 sub-division) Daniel Joseph at Kaval Byrasandra for a temporary electricity connection. 

The accused was produced before the Lokayukta special court and was remanded to judicial custody.

In another case, M B Ravi, a second division assistant (SDA) at the Directorate of Health and Family Welfare Services Department, was arrested while accepting a bribe of Rs 3,500 from Masood Ahmed, a resident of Sarakki Gate, employed as a First Division Assistant (FDA) at a Primary Health Centre at Kaggalipura.

Dismissed from service

The police said that Masood was suspended and was later dismissed from service. He had challenged the dismissal and received an order in his favour. He then approached Ravi at the Directorate of Health and Family Welfare Services for regularising the past service. 

Ravi was caught red-handed while accepting the bribe at Ksheera Sagar Hotel, Anand Rao Circle on Wednesday. The accused has been remanded in judicial custody.
