Case booked against activist for FB post

A case was registered against Prabha Belamangala, a social activist, in Ulsoor police station on August 3, for her derogatory remarks against a particular community, on a social media platform.

According to police, Belamangala had posted a derogatory remark against a particular community on her Facebook page recently. 

The complainant, Vinay Kumar, also an activist, approached the Ulsoor police station and registered a complaint. He informed the police that the post on Facebook has hurt him and a lot of other people. 

Belamangala has been booked under IPC Sections 295 (A), a deliberate and malicious acts, intended to outrage religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs and 153 (A), promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race and language.

Recently, a columnist V R Bhat, was arrested by the City police for posting objectionable post on Belamanagala’s Facebook page.
