Two held for molesting sales girl at wine festival

Two men, one a State government staffer, have been arrested by JC Nagar Police on the charge of allegedly attempting to outrage the modesty of a 17-year-old girl.

The police have also opened history sheets against the duo.

The incident took place at Bangalore International Wine Festival-2014 at Jayamahal Palace Hotel on Sunday evening. The accused Surendra (33) and Kiran (30), are both natives of Doddaballapura.

Police said the victim, a sales girl at one of the stalls, after visiting the restroom, on her return, at around 6.30 pm, was accosted by three men, who, allegedly passed lewd comments and molested her.

“The victim raised an alarm and people caught hold of two suspects. The accused were taken to the police station. Kiran is a first division assistant in Revenue Department, while the other is a cab driver. The search is on to track down the third accused,'' a police official said. The JC Nagar Police booked the accused under Section 354 of IPC and relevant sections under Pocso Act.

DCP (North) Sandeep Patil said that the accused Kiran allegedly molested the victim.

The other two helped him and restrained the public when they went to rescue the victim. By opening history sheet it is easy for jurisdictional police to keep a watch on the accused.

Even if released on bail, they will be under surveillance through compulsory visit to the police station once in a month, Sandeep Patil said.

Molester thrashed

Alert public caught and thrashed a small-time businessman for allegedly making an attempt to sexually assault a woman during a show at Garuda Mall on Sunday.

He was later handed over to the Ashok Nagar police. The suspect was identified as Vijayakumar, 30, a resident of Anepalya. Vijayakumar is into car wash business and operates from a complex close to Garuda Mall. According to the police, the incident took place when the victim was watching a show at the mall along with her husband and children.

When the woman raised an alarm, visitors to the mall caught Vijayakumar and beat him up. On learning about the incident, the police rushed to the spot and arrested him.

Bar staff stabbed

An employee of a bar in Indiranagar allegedly stabbed his colleague over a tiff on Sunday night.  The injured Arivalagan, a resident of Motappanapalya, is being treated at a hospital in Indiranagar.

Police said Arivalagan works at Loft-38, a bar and restaurant, on Indiranagar 100 ft road. On Sunday around 2.30 pm another employee Rocky R Goms allegedly picked up a quarrel with Arivalagan.  Later, Arivalagan brought it to the notice of the bar manager Shibu. The manager warned Rocky and also fired him from the job. When Arivalagan and another employee Syed Sahudani were returning home after work at around 2 am Rocky accosted them at Indiranagar 2nd Cross.

“He then stabbed Arivalagan in his abdomen with a knife. At that time, another bar employee David Anthony intervened and even he was stabbed by the accused,” police said. Later in the night, David lodged a complaint with the Indiranagar police.
