A 20-year-old woman was allegedly raped at gunpoint by a BSES assistant manager at a hotel room in south Delhi’s Mahipalpur on Sunday. The accused was arrested and his licensed pistol seized.

The accused Kishan Dabas allegedly lured the woman to the hotel room on Sunday afternoon on the pretext of arranging a job interview. It was there that he allegedly raped her.

Police were informed of the incident by the victim at about 2.15 pm on Sunday. They arrived at the hotel room number 304 and arrested Dabas. His licensed pistol was with him at the time of his arrest and it was subsequently seized.

“The woman was known to the man for the last five-six months. They had met through a common contact and the two had become friends as Dabas promised to get her a job,” said a police officer.

“The woman would keep asking him about her job chances and he would keep saying that he was arranging for it. On Sunday afternoon he called her to a hotel in Mahipalpur claiming that he had arranged for someone who would interview her.

Once she entered inside, she found no one inside and asked him about it,” the officer added.

Instead of answering her, Dabas allegedly tried to rape her. When she resisted his bid, he pulled out his revolver and raped her at gunpoint. He also allegedly threatened her to keep the entire crime a secret or be killed.

But the woman managed to emerge from the room on some pretext and called the police control room that she had been raped at gunpoint by a man known to her and that he could be nabbed from the hotel itself if a team was sent immediately.

Even before the accused could know that police had been informed, he was faced with arrest. Dabas lives in outer Delhi’s Bawana area.
