Last Updated 13 July 2014, 19:43 IST

To strengthen its academic activities in the field of cyber technology, the National Law School of India University (NLSIU), Bangalore, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Data Security Council of India (DSCI), a data protection organisation under Nascom.

The MoU will cover activities such as collaborative research, closer interaction between industry and academia through joint research, conducting public advocacy in cyber laws and data protection, as well as hosting of national and international conferences on information technology laws and policy.

In addition, professional skill development programmes for law graduates to enhance their knowledge in the field is another aim of the joint collaboration.

The DSCI will contribute to the development of the course materials on cyber security while the NLSIU will fill in so far as the knowledge about cyber laws is concerned. Consequently, DSCI will be able to elicit the legal expertise of NLSIU in the areas of IT Laws to support its ongoing policy initiatives.

“This will be the beginning of the joint venture of both the esteemed institutions in taking further the teaching, training and research in the technical field of cyber laws and forensic,” said Dr Nagarathna A, coordinator, Advanced Centre on Cyber Law and Cyber Forensic, NLSIU.
