Four held in Varanasi for filming Ganga Arti

Last Updated 11 July 2014, 19:59 IST

Four persons were arrested on Thursday evening while filming the ''Ganga Arti'' without permission at Dashashwamedh Ghat in the holy city of Varanasi, the parliamentary constituency of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Police said the crew filming the ritual on a copter-cam did not have permission, though they claimed they had been recruited by a travel firm for the purpose.  Two walkie-talkies have been recovered from them, police added.

“We are questioning the shooting crew... it is clear they had no permission,” revealed a senior police official in Varanasi, adding that the foursome is from Delhi, Haryana and Assam.

They revealed during the interrogation that a group of 16, including six from the US and two from Australia, have also been filming sites at Agra, Allahabad, Shimla and Manali.
