JOIN USReacting to the Centre’s proposed plan to establish three separate cities within Kashmir for Kashmiri Pandits (KPs), hardline Hurriyat leader Syed Ali Geelani Sunday alleged that the government was working on its dangerous plan to divide the society and to give “freedom struggle” a communal colour.
“(Chief Minister) Omar Abdullah has been conveyed by (Prime Minister) Narendra Modi and (Union Home Minister) Rajnath Singh in Delhi that he has to earmark 16,800 kanals of land at three locations where three satellite cities would be developed for KPs.
“We have no guarantee that only KPs would be settled in these cities,” the Hurriyat hawk said while addressing a seminar here.
“People like (VHP chief) Praveen Togadia can be settled in these colonies or the people would be given arms,” he alleged.
However, the octogenarian separatist leader said the doors are always open for migrant Kashmir Pandits.
“But they should be settled at their ancestral places. I challenge there is not a single person from our Muslim brethren who is against the return of the Pandits to the valley.
I also guarantee that the non-Muslim brethren would be given complete protection in the Valley,” he said.
“We are fighting an indigenous struggle and al-Qaeda has no role in Kashmir,” he added.
