HASC, MEG play out tame draw

Last Updated 01 June 2014, 17:00 IST

HASC and MEG played out a disappointing 0-0 draw in their BDFA Super Division encounter here at the Bangalore Football Stadium on Sunday.

HASC and MEG are two of the heavyweights of the division and having seen their position usurped by I-League champions, Bengaluru FC, as the numero uno club in the city, they would have been looking to serve notice of their own ambitions.

Both the teams started cautiously in the early stages before the midfielders of both the teams tried way too many forward passes without the timing as well as the accuracy.

There was a piece of good footwork from HASC’s AD Kumar who skipped around a couple of challenges down the left channel before his drive across the face of goal was met by an onrushing Xavier Vijaykumar. But his shot lacked the sting and it was cleared on the line by Girish VK.

It was more of the same story in the second-half before HASC upped the ante as they went in search of the winner in the last 10 minutes.

HASC’s J Karthikeyan almost produced the best moment of the match when his long range drive from way outside the ‘D’ was well turned around by keeper Amit Shaw.
That proved to be the last significant action in the match.

In the ‘A’Division match, BUFC edged past Tilak Memorial by a solitary goal thanks to an early goal from Clivert.

Results: ‘A’ Division: BUFC: 1 (Clivert 3rd) bt Tilak Memorial: 0.
Monday’s fixtures: ‘A’ Division: BUFC vs Bangalore Independents; Super Division: RWF vs ADE.
