Tenant stabs landlord over rent demand

A tenant allegedly stabbed his landlord when the latter asked him to pay up arrears of rent, in Vijayanagar police limits on Saturday night.

According to police, Subramani, a resident of Bapuji Layout in Vijayanagar, had let out his house to Armugam, a vegetable vendor, three months ago. Armugam was not regular in paying the rent.

On Saturday, Surbramani asked Armugam to pay the rent else vacate the house.  In a fit of rage, Armugam stabbed Subramani on his right hand, chest and fled the spot. Hearing the commotion, neighbours rushed Subramani to a nearby hospital and he is stated to be out of danger.Police have launched a search to trace Armugam, who is absconding.

Sand lorries seized

The Bangalore Rural district administration has seized 26 sand-laden lorries, 11 earth movers, four air compressors, 21 gravel transporting trucks and more than 2,000 granite blocks worth Rs five crore, during the raids conducted at Nelamangala, Devanahalli and Hoskote taluks on Saturday.

Cases have been registered against the owners earth movers and trucks.
