JOIN USThe sixth edition of Jnana Degula, a Deccan Herald- Prajavani annual education fair which concluded here on Sunday, saw more than 5,000 visitors this year.
Based on demand from parents and students, the session on Common Entrance Test (CET) was held for the second time here on Sunday. The fair was held on Saturday and Sunday at the Jayamahal Palace Hotel grounds.
On Saturday, the CET counselling session addressed by Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) official U S Badiger evinced a lot of interest from students and parents who got many of their queries clarified by the official. The official spoke about CET seat matrix and the admission procedure.
The two-day education fair saw 85 participant institutions that had set up their stalls and were giving out information about several courses and admission procedure. “We found the event extremely helpful. We are feeling bad that we could not attend any of the sessions that were held on Saturday. We have come for our son’s higher education. Next in line is my daughter. We will definitely revisit,” said Prabhod Bharadwaj, one of the parents on Sunday.
Students with varied interests had come with a lot of expectations from the event. While some were looking for courses and institutions for a degree in law, there were others who sought information on agriculture.
Many students were interested in different streams of engineering while others were looking for a career in health sciences. Students were able to find information on cut-offs, admission process, fees and alternative career options.
The education fair took off on Saturday with a high note. Founder of Swami Vivekananda Youth Movement (SVYM) Dr R Balasubramaniam, who inaugurated the event, spoke to students about harnessing global opportunities and finding a satisfactory career path based on one’s passion. There were two other sessions that received overwhelming response from students.
Dr S Kumar of COMEDK counselled students on the procedure for COMEDK counselling, while at the same time giving a picture on the status of medical education in the country.
Prof K Raghothama Rao, director, Human Networking Academy advised students to muster courage and allow their dreams to blossom.
