JOIN USThe Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) has finally begun work to repair broken pipes, bringing a sigh of relief to residents of Devaiah Park.
Three months on, residents and commuters struggled as a stretch of the main road from Devaiah Park to Harishchandra Ghat was flooded with drainage water three days a week. Residents were forced to take diversion as a result.
“Besides broken pipes and Metro construction added to the woes. While the BMRCL dug up one side of the road, the other was opened for the BWSSB repair,” explained Chiranjeevi who runs a dance school on the same road. He also alleged that despite approaching various government officials, there was no response.
Hema, another resident, said: “A lot of vehicles ply on the road as it connects to Malleswaram. We see vehicles skid often because of this. We hope the repair work will not bear for long.”
A BWSSB official, on the spot, said the road was dug up for laying pipes. “We will need three days’ time.
We have already laid 10 pipes, 20 more are due,” he explained. There has been traffic diversion. Vehicles coming from Navrang towards Malleswaram have been diverted and asked to take crossroads.
Alternatively, they have to take diversion from Rajkumar Road.
