BJP is against social justice: CM

Last Updated 13 April 2014, 16:54 IST

‘LS polls will see clash between secularism and Hindutva’

The Lok Sabha poll is between the Hindutva propagated by the BJP and secularism principles and democratic ideologies of the Congress, said Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.

Speaking at an election rally in Sullia on Sunday, he said “the BJP was directly and indirectly responsible for communal flare ups in the country. Even the manifesto of the BJP speaks on communalism.

The manifesto did not raise issues of Dalits, farmers, poor and minorities. BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi is a liar. He is a hardcore RSS. The BJP is in a wrong notion that they can set up a base for Hindutva through Modi in the country. However, the Constitution of India will not provide any scope for such a move of the BJP,” he said.

“Kerala tops in literacy rate while Maharashtra in industries. However, Gujarat tops in infant mortality rate. The loan of the Gujarat government was Rs 42,000 crore before Modi became chief minister. However, in the last 12 years, the loan amount has raised to Rs 1,76,000 crore. Is this Modi model?” he asked.

“Terming the BJP rule in Karnataka as a black day in the history, Siddaramaiah said that the previous BJP government was the worst government. On what moral ground, former Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa, Ananth Kumar, Katta Subramanya Naidu seek vote for Modi,” he asked.

“The BJP is against social justice. The Congress had promised of introducing reservation in private sector. Whether the BJP could implement it?” Siddaramaiah questioned.

There was no allegations against the Congress government in the last 11 months of rule in Karnataka. Out of 165 promises, 95 promises have been fulfilled. The rights of Tamil Expatriates in Sullia will be protected, the chief minister assured.

District-in-Charge Minister Ramanath Rai said “the BJP had promised of distributing rice at Rs two per kg. However, it had forgotten after coming to power. No one can free India from the Congress,” he added. AICC member P V Mohan, KPCC member Dr Raghu among others were present.
