Milk vendor crushed under lorry wheels

A 19-year-old youth was killed on the spot in an accident on Tank Bund Road in Begur, Electronics City police station limits on Friday morning.

According to police, Lohith, a milk vendor and a resident of Chikkabegur, was riding a two-wheeler with his friend Basava on the pillion when a brick-laden truck rammed their bike. Lohith came under the wheels of the truck and died on the spot. Basava sustained minor injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital by the passersby.

Police said the lorry driver abandoned the vehicle and fled the spot. A case has been registered.

Rs 2.5L valuables burgled

Burglars struck at a locked house at Dwarakanagar in Soladevanahalli limits  on Thursday night and decamped with valuables worth Rs 2.5 lakh.

According to police, Shivakumar, a lawyer, along with his wife and child, left home as usual on Thursday morning after locking the house.

When they returned home around 7 pm, they found the kitchen exhaust fan thrown on the floor and suspected that something was wrong. They immediately checked the house, only to realise that silver items kept in the room, along with gold jewellery and cash in the almirah, were missing.

Guards held for ‘theft’

Two guards were arrested for stealing Rs 18 lakh from their employer’s car recently. The arrested have been identified as Saurabuddin Jamandhar and Manikuddin Jamandhar, both from Assam.

They were hired by Ramesh Reddy as security guards.

Liquor seized

The flying squad of the excise department seized five tankers containing one lakh litres of extra neutral alcohol at Andersonpet in KGF. Drivers of the tankers have been arrested.
