KPSC scam: HC asks govt to act on its own

Last Updated 19 February 2014, 21:27 IST

The High Court on Wednesday, asked why the State government was not taking action on its own and waiting for the court’s direction in connection with the Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC) recruitment scam.

A division bench comprising Chief Justice D H Waghela and Justice B V Nagarathna said the State government is the ‘victim’ in the scam as there was no transparency in recruitments. The bench asked the government what steps it has taken to bring transparency in public service recruitment. Additional Advocate General H Kantharaju said they are willing to take directions from the court to probe the scam.

The KPSC advocate filed a counter affidavit stating that the conclusions and analysis given by the petitioner members in the ‘fact finding committee report’ were found to be incorrect, misleading and based on erroneous premises. The bench directed the government to file an affidavit with regard to what action it will take and adjourned the hearing to March 5.
