Happy to work with my friends: Deepak Parambol

Deepak Parambol opens up about his role in Kunjiramayanam and his friendship with the team
Nearly six years ago, Deepak first met director Vineeth Sreenivasan during the audition of the latter’s debut directorial venture Malarvadi Arts Club. Fortunately, he got selected for a role in that movie. Two years later, he got a call from the same director to portray Comrade Manoj Menon in Thattathin Marayathu and that role gave Deepak a big break in his acting career.
Now, Deepak Parambol is back in action with debutant Basil Joseph’s Kunjiramayanam, in which he will be seen as a sidekick to the protagonist being essayed by director Vineeth Sreenivasan. Deepak, who is excited about sharing the screen space with his mentor, says, “It was like being back home as most of the cast and crew, including Vineeth ettan and Dhyan, have been my friends even before we joined this project.
“Though, I have worked with Vineeth ettan on three movies he directed, this is the first time I get a chance to act along with him.”The most exciting factor is that I play the close friend of the protagonist, Kunjiraman played by Vineeth ettan,” says Deepak, who essays the role of Sasi alias Kindi Sasi, in the film.
For Deepak, this character is very new as he has not done this kind of role earlier in his career. “Sasi is a normal village lad, who is one of the best buddies of Kunjiraman. He always wants to booze and that is why he is known as ‘Kindi Sasi’. But in the movie there is no scene which portrays him consuming alcohol,” says the 26-year-old actor. Kunjiramayanam is Deepak’s cherished project as it gives the actor space to collaborate with some of his close friends. “It was while working in Vineeth ettan’s Thira, that I got acquainted with Basil, the assistant director in that film. We became good friends during that period and around a year back he called me to this project,” says Deepak.
