Actors Trisha & Jayam dropped by at DC, to chat about their sparkling chemistry
She’s bright, vivacious, and articulate and drop dead gorgeous. He’s calm, quiet but has a sharp sense of humour. Together Trisha and Jayam Ravi have this easy camaraderie that is sure to be the highlight of their upcoming film Sakalakala Vallavan. Their visit to the DC office started off on a fun note when the two actors entered the elevator at the DC Chennai office. When a beep indicated the lift exceeded the weight limit, Ravi pulled the slender actress' leg saying ‘Trisha is overweight’.
Their friendship was apparent when Ravi went on to talk about their chemistry onscreen saying, “On screen – chemistry, off screen – history!” He heaped praise on his co-star saying, “We entered the industry around the same time. Out first film was Unakkum Ennakkum. We didn’t get much time to interact. Later, we met often in parties and other events. Also, Trisha is my wife’s friend too. Trisha is level headed and of course, she is beautiful — everyone knows about it. She is also mature and extremely talented.”
Trisha added, “Aarti Ravi is the major bonding factor between us. Ravi is a chamathu (good person). He is an extremely secure actor — very professional but also a big prankster!”
Both stars are known to choose quality over quantity and one big reason for this is that they are conscious about picking the right films. “I haven’t ever worked for money, and I never will. For me, cinema is an image. Money comes and goes but you can't buy an image. I have made it through lean periods in my career because I have a fantastic family that has always been supportive.”
Trisha too agreed saying, “It’s very easy to accept whichever films that come my way to make money, but that will be the end of your career. I do films out of the love for the role and the character.”
Other interesting aspect they revealed was that they both bond tremendously over food! “I’m a complete foodie. I know it sounds shallow but with Ravi and me, food was an instant connect. We both discuss food and enjoy a good meal. It’s something that we have in common,” said Trisha.
Actors Trisha and Jayam Ravi opened up about their interests, dreams and Bollywood aspirations:
Jayam Ravi:
Interests:
I have tried my hand at so many things like surfing and cricket. But each time, I would always think about the producers who invested in my films and that brought me back. My passion is only cinema now.
BOLLYWOOD:
I have been approached for a couple of films but for the second lead, so I definitely have dreams of making it on a national platform, but I will wait for the right offer.
Sibling revelry:
My brother Raja is very good at selecting and improvising scripts. We have done five films together and all were remakes. He knows how to add the local flavour and we have a ‘give and take’ policy and take each other’s suggestions.
Trisha:
Bollywood:
You need to have a base in Mumbai and a strong PR to sustain in Bollywood. Being from the south industry, I didn’t want to start all over again from scratch in B’town. Also, thinking of shifting out of Chennai is unimaginable for me. Even when I was extremely busy with Telugu films, I never relocated to Hyderabad
Looks:
I think it’s because of my good genes. Lots of people ask if my grand mom is my mom and mother is my sister.
Success mantra:
I chose quality over quantity, and more over, there is a certain connect you build with the audience over the years. Why should I think of retiring when I’m getting good films? As long as I get good roles I’ll continue acting. Now actresses returning to films after marriage have become common.
