Like in politics, film industry too has always witnessed the power of siblings. Bollywood has many such examples and even down south ample number of star brother and sisters co-exist happily. Bengaluru Chronicle caught up with a few siblings on how they share their success, their struggles and much more.
Amongst the star siblings — Dr Shivarajkumar-Puneeth-Raghavendra Rajkumar have remained on top for years in Sandalwood, Vijay Raghavendra-Murali, Darshan-Dinakar Thoogudeepa, Chiranjeevi-Dhruva Sarja, Ganesh-Mahesh, Shanvi Srivastava -Vidisha Pooja-Radhika Gandhi, Prajwal-Pranam Devaraj, Sanjjanaa-Nikki Galrani and few others in the recent past are busy working for the same goal.
Vijay Raghavendra known as Chinnari Mutta, showcased his talent much early in his career as a child artiste winning several awards for his excellent performance. He had to wait for Ninagagi to make it to the star list as a hero. His brother Murali, too who started early has tasted success in the past through hard work. Though he faced a few hiccups recently, he bounced back with Ugramm. Speaking about his brother Vijay who is all set make his directorial debut Kismat, Murali says, “It is a fantastic feeling. We both share a lot of childhood memories. I have seen him evolve as an actor. We appreciate each other’s work. The one quality, I like about him is that he is very dedicated. If he is sure about something, he will go ahead. I was shocked and pleasantly surprised after he told me about his directorial debut. Since it is a remake, it is a safe bet. I would love to work with him soon, and wish him all the best for all his ventures.”
Both Sanjjanaa and her sister Nikki Galrani, are busy not just in Sandalwood, but in other languauges down south. The elder Galrani shares that she used to feel very responsible when Nikki started acting. “I used to make the decisions when it came to her films, on what kind of roles she has to choose and the ones to stay away from. Now, I am very happy to see her career taking shape. We keep in touch regularly with frequent phone calls during the day. We share a lot and discuss our projects,” she adds.
Shanvi Srivastava, who made it big with her Sandalwood debut in Chandralekha, and went onto bag Masterpiece alongside Rocking Star Yash and also Bhale Jodi opposite Sumanth Shailendra talks about her elder sister Vidisha, who was actually supposed to debut ahead of her in Viraat opposite Challenging Star Darshan. The project which was on hold for a while, is now revived.
“She has been my mentor. I always look upto her, as she has more experience in the industry. My sister would guide me not just in choosing the right films but helping me excel as an actor, including acting lessons at times. In fact it was because of her, that I entered the industry. It was through her manager, who is now my manager too, that I got my first film. I do not shy away from saying that my sister is my mentor,” she wraps up.
