Samir Jain’s bungalow is a hassle free

Businessman Samir Jain’s mother had a simple wish, she wanted a huge home with lots of space. So Samir, who moved to Hyderabad in 1989, took it upon himself to rebuild the family’s two homes into one huge spacious bungalow.

Tucked away in a bylane of Banjara Hills, the 5,000+ sq feet bungalow is home to Samir, wife Anju, daughters Saloni and Sachi and 11-year-old pet Snoopy. “We moved into this house in 1994, back then it was two separate houses on the plot, so we decided to break them down and build one single, spacious home,” says Samir. The Jains moved into their new home in 2011.

Huge spaces, rooms that are designed based on seasons and a home that is ‘hassle-free’ was what the Jains had in mind and interior designer Supraja Rao delivered just that. “I added glass panels, so that when the blinds are opened sunlight just flows in, and the home doesn’t look restricted,” says Supraja. The airy look has been achieved with huge windows and the ample natural lighting that flows inside the bungalow changes depending on the time of the day.

Spacious homes, sometimes run the risk of looking too empty, however, that is one thing that this five-bedroom home does not suffer from. Stone claddings in dark hues and paintings keep the home far from looking empty.

Adding a personal touch to the home are the names on each door. “Each room has a name written, for instance the guest room has “Athithi” carved on it and the same goes for everyone’s room. Rooms are also based on different seasons,” say Saloni and Sachi.
