Mika Singh and Daler Mehndi to come together for a song

On the music front Mika has his hands full at the moment

Mumbai: Mika Singh singer-composer- songwriter, recently turned actor too with ‘Balwinder Singh Famous Ho Gaya’.

The film didn’t perform too well at the box office but Mika isn’t giving up yet. “I have been getting a lot of acting offers but it becomes difficult to take off one-two months to shoot a film, as I’m also doing world tours, recordings, reality shows, writing songs to focus on too. If I do get one-two months free I will do a movie but I haven’t got much time free since past 10 years.”

Mika and older brother Daler Mehendi seem poles apart but the singer excitedly informs us that the duo will collaborate for a musical venture this year. “This year Daler paaji and I will collaborate on a song. He told me, this year I want to sing with you. I feel, he thinks I have finally learnt to sing now. Daler paaji is the king of music, we are only following the work he has already done.”

On the music front Mika has his hands full at the moment but he wants to do selective work. He says, “My latest song is from ‘Welcome to Karachi’ and whenever I singer for Jackky (Bhagnani) that song becomes a hit. He’s like my younger brother. This year I want to do selected work, last year I sang around 300 songs but this year I want to take a break. Very soon we will be releasing a single (a Sufi number) featuring Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and me.”

Besides singing, Mika has the reality show ‘The Voice India’ coming up with Sunidhi Chauhan, Shaan and Himesh Reshammiya. “I have watched the international versions of The Voice. Christina Aguilera, who has featured on the show, is my favourite singer. This is my third or fourth reality show in 16 years of my career. I’m based in Delhi but it’s a good thing the show is being shot in Mumbai so I can shoot as well as manage my film commitments. ”

So how will they judge only on the basis of voice or how the singer presents himself? “If you have to be a good singer, your voice is of utmost importance. Each coach will have 14 singers. I have known Shaan since 1996. I had done a world tour with Sunidhi back in 99. I met Himesh in 2004."
