Whatever your pleasure, make it pleather, not leather: Gulshan Grover

The actor collaborated with PETA to highlight the plight of animals

Mumbai: Bollywood's "bad guy" Gulshan Grover has featured in the new PETA advertisement. He features on the cover picture with an interesting tagline, 'Whatever your pleasure, make it pleather, not leather'. He is highly against leather and speaks up in support of the millions of animals whose skins are stolen to make it. The campaign was shot in Pico Studios in Los Angeles by Ash Gupta of Studio838 and 838 Media Group.

In an interview to PETA, Gulshan had no qualms about voicing his opinion. He said, “When you shop leather, do you realise that somebody else is paying for it … with their lives? Wear something that you are looking killer in – but you are not killing anyone”.

Cows, buffaloes and other animals who are killed for leather are taken to slaughter by being crammed into vehicles. They often trample and kill each other. Those who survive the journey, are held down and their throats are cut. Another horrifying act that surfaced was they are sometimes skinned while being conscious.

The disadvantages doesn't end up by highlighting the cruelty, the chemical runoff from leather tanneries not only poisons rivers and streams and is also a threat linked to cancer and other illnesses in humans.

Watch the actor talk about the whole experience of shooting for the campaign.
