Popular writer and actor Paruchuri Gopalakrishna, who knew M.S. Narayana right from his youth, reminiscences, “He was my student studying at Telugu Basha Praveena in Bheemavaram.

Not many know this, but he was a very progressive man. His marriage to his wife Kalaprapoorna was a love marriage.

One day, in 1971, he came with Kalaprapoorna, also my student, to me with the intention of marrying her. His elders didn’t accept their relationship, and that’s why he had come to me it was an inter-caste relationship.

I performed their marriage, rented a home for them and asked the two to live there. I even arranged a job for him as a booking clerk at a theatre. Then I asked Murthy Raju garu to give them jobs and he started working as a lecturer and his wife worked as a teacher.”

He continues: “He was very active in theatre at the time. I wrote a play titled Prayatnam and M.S. Narayana played the lead role he got the best actor award. In 1991 he came to Madras, and expressed his wish of joining films. He came up with a few stories and one of his scripts became successful.

That’s how he started his film career as a writer. He then became close to director Ravi Raja Pinistty and he offered him a role in Pedarayudu.”

“Later E.V.V. Satyanarayana offered the role in Maa Nannaki Pelli, which became a turning point in his life. He never looked back and went onto act in over 700 films.”
Gopalakrishna also shared a recent incident.

“Recently, he acted as a lead in a film titled Crazywala where he played Arvind Kejriwal. In this film he requested me to act as his guru but it didn’t happen. Also, he tried his best to ensure that his son would turn out to be a really good actor.”
