Mumbai: After playing multiple roles on the small screen, Abhinav Shukla is geared up for his big screen debut with Roar. Mr “Best Potential” in Gladrags Mr India Contest says that while television will always be close to his heart, films is what he is focusing on at the moment. “Emotionally, I am attached to TV because it has given me my bread and butter. It’s been two years since I am off television, but I am constantly being offered roles for TV projects. People from the TV industry continue to be kind to me,” says the actor who was earlier seen in shows such as Ek Hazaaron Mein Meri Behna Hai, Chotti Bahu and Hitler Didi among others.
About his upcoming film, he says, “Roar is a film based on the tigers in the Sundarbans. It is the story of a battle between man and the beast. I play an army commando from Special Actions Group named Pundit who is trying to avenge the death of his brother, who was killed by a tiger. It involves heavy VFX work. The film will educate people about the tigers in the Sundarbans.” How did the offer come along? “It was a series of auditions. I had auditioned for the role of Sufi, who is another commando in the team, but fortunately got short-listed for the role of Pundit. I was initially excited, but it soon dawned on me that it is going to be a lot more demanding role.”
