Amala Paul and A L Vijay to tie the knot on June 12

It’s going to be a big fat Indian wedding in a traditional Hindu ceremony

Chennai: Celebrity couple, actress Amala Paul and director A.L. Vijay, solemnised their relationship in a traditional Christian ceremony as they exchanged rings at St Jude Church, in Kochi, on June 7. And on June 12, the couple will tie the knot. At the glitzy do, celebrities like Anushka Shetty and Vikram were also spotted, amidst other close friends of the couple.

A.L. Vijay, dapper in a suit, was at his chivalrous best as he escorted his beautiful wife-to-be to address the press. Amala had all the ebullience of a bride-to-be, wearing a custom-made white gown by Delhi-based designer Himangi.

“Can you believe it? I’m engaged and I’m getting married. I just can’t wait. It’s been crazy since the day we decided the date,” she says, in a DC exclusive. The actress adds, “Though I’m only 23, I felt this was the right time to get married. I was settled professionally; when I met Vijay, my personal life felt complete. My mother always used to tell me that a woman’s life is complete with a man. And Vijay is that man, my man.”

Amala then traded the pristine white ensemble for an embellished Anita Dongre lehenga for the sangeet. The actress will be wearing a traditional Kanjeevaram sari for the Hindu style wedding in Chennai, followed by a Sabyasachi Mukherji lehenga for the reception on the same day. “I had everything planned even before we zeroed in on the dates. I also had my jewellery hand-picked from Amraapali and Joy Alukkas,” says the doe-eyed beauty.

The actress reveals that she’s not pulling the plugs on her career just yet, but adds that she will take it slow. “I’ve been working round the clock ever since I started. Now, I want to spend time with family, enjoy being a homemaker and a wife. I’ll complete the films I’ve already committed to and then take a break. But acting is in my blood; only there is a change in my priorities now. No more commercial potboilers for me,” she signs off.
