Mangaluru: Vijaya Bank employees seek rechristening of Light House HIll Road

Mangaluru, Mar 18: Vijaya Bank Workers Organization has approached the city corporation commissioner here again, seeking to fix a boarddisplaying the change of name into 'Mulky Sundaram Shetty Road' for the road previously known as Light House Hill Road in the city. The organization has asked the commissioner to immediately issue permission to competent authorities to install new name board of the road.

"On Septemner 20, 2017, the state high court had ordered to maintain status quo of the earlier order ordering to name the road as Mulky Sundaram Shetty Road. On February 9 again it issued clarification on this order. Therefore, this road has now been transformed into 'Mulky Suhdaram Shetty Road'. The city corporation has to tell the e concerned to arrange for change of name," he stated.

A true copy of the high court order has been enclosed to the letter. Copies thereof have already been given to the district deputy commissioner and city police commissioner, said former president of Vijaya Bank Workers Organization, Mulky Karunakar Shetty, in a release.

    Whatever has happened to this saga? The last time I heard was that there was going to be arbitration of some sort. May be I missed out on some of the developments since then. Would some one of the commentators enlighten me?
