Deshpande wants Karnataka to lead in employment generation

Bengaluru, Jan 18: Karnataka with its vast reservoirs of talent and skill should become the hub of employment generation, said Large and Medium Industries and Infrastructure Development R V Deshpande in Bengaluru on Wednesday.

Inaugurating the two day India Soft-2018 conclave, he said ``Bengaluru has become the Silicon Valley of the world and state is ahead of time and other states of the country in bringing out the constructive and transparent policies regarding emerging sectors of industry’’.

"The Indian companies will have bright future in the emerging markets of Africa and some other countries. But the boon for India and Karnataka is the huge manpower with rich and skilled talent. Including America, no country has this kind of wealth,’’ Deshapande said.

In his speech to over 400 entrepreneurs and the delegates of more than 60 countries, the minister said ``research and the innovation are vital for the phenomenal growth of the industries. Today Bengaluru has more than 400 well known R & D institutions and automatically it has become the Capital of Innovation also.’’

He asked the investors to discuss among themselves before investing and said the state government is available 24X7 to solve the problems of the industrial sector and ready to provide the essential infrastructure.

Deshpande said the State had the Infrastructure policy by the year 1996 and it has given good results in the places like Hubballi-Dharawad, Shivamogga, Kalaburagi, Belagavi and Mysuru also.

He emphasised the point that the State is improving Air connectivity and constructing Metro Rail, Peripheral roads, flyovers, underpasses and quality roads in Bengaluru.

Minister for Small Scale Industries Geetha Mahadevaprasad, Chairman of the India Soft Nalin Kohli, ECS Chairman Prasad Garapathui, ECS vice-president Sethia, Principal Secretary to IT-BT Department Gaurav Gupta were among the dignitaries who were present on the occasion.
