KGIAL transformed into X’Mas Wonderland

Bengaluru, Dec 16: The every-busy Kempe Gowda International Airport Ltd (KGIAL) in Bengaluru has decked up for the Christmas and New Year Season.

The terminal at KGIAL has been transformed into X’Mas Wonderland as Winter Wonderland has been created through an exciting shopping festival from December 15 to 31, 2017.

Leading music bands will be giving live performances on five days of the shopping festival, according to an official press release.

KGIAL’s year-end festivities have commenced with the fourth edition of its annual festival ‘Season of Smiles.’

The Airport will be converted to a ‘Winter Wonderland’, welcoming travellers and guests with exciting shopping offers, music performances by various artists, interactive photo opportunities and eye-catching installations.

The Airport, in collaboration with its stakeholders will don a bright and festive look that will set the stage for varied activities and performances, truly making the last month of the year merry. 

Festive touches include a life-size X’Mas tree and Santa Claus, interesting installations of Christmas characters and quirky photo-ops. 

The celebrations will provide passengers visual treats this holiday season. 

The Airport will also offer passengers a wide variety of options in latest apparel, books, gifts and souvenirs. Through this specially curated event, the Airport aims to enhance passenger experience.

“As we prepare for a busy time of the year welcoming people from across the world, we are pleased to present the fourth edition of Season of Smiles to our travellers. During the seasonal peak we are expected to see over 75,000 passengers travel through the airport each day and this is our way of celebrating the year-end festivities with them while also spreading the festive cheer. Through this festival we want our travellers to take back fun memories of their travel experience at BLR Airport. We also welcome the City to join us in our celebrations at the kerb,” said Raj Andrade, Vice President, Business Development Marketing & Strategy, KGIAL.

Season of Smiles

A wide array of offers and discounts will be provided to people traversing through the Airport during the ‘Season of Smiles’. 

All through this time, travellers and guests can participate in a lucky draw by purchase of products or F&B worth Rs 299 or above at any of the retail, food and beverage outlets and lounges at the Kerb and inside the airport. All purchases will get an assured payback voucher from the respective outlet.  

The coupons, which will be an attempt to pleasantly surprise passengers, will range from Rs. 299 to Rs. 5000. Travellers and guests get one raffle for purchases between Rs. 299 and Rs. 999 and an additional raffle for every Rs. 500 and above that. The mega prizes include a Jeep Compass, LG Home Audio System and Fossil watches. 

Passengers can also win daily prizes of LG appliances. The Social Media handle of the Airport @BLRAirport on Twitter and Facebook will engage with online customers who can win exciting gifts every day through this period.

BIAL will be celebrating the festival cheer in contribution to the community it serves. 

As part of the Season of Smiles festival, there will be specially curated post cards by children with special needs from the Mathru Free School for the Blind & Hearing Impaired Children. These unique postcards, available at the terminal, will encourage passengers to send festive messages to their friends and family at no cost. 

BIAL has set up donation boxes for the children of Mathru where passengers can make contributions toward the purchase of Braille books for them, which will be matched by BIAL with an equal amount of money.

Activities around music:

The festivities at the Airport will come to life as the Bangalore School of Music, Colombo-based Soul Sounds and Best Kept Secrets engage with travellers through music at the Kerb and inside the Terminal. These performances will be from 6 to 8 pm from December 17 to 21, 2017. Performance line-up include:

17th, December, 2017 -Bangalore Men from the Bangalore School of Music, a 15-member all male band that focuses on Western classical music, from eras ranging from medieval music to contemporary
18th and 19th December 2017 - Soul Sounds, a premier female ensemble, ranked among some of the most renowned choirs in the world, have the ability to reach out to the soul with their passionate music.
20th December, 2017 - Best Kept Secrets, they have a repertoire ranging from classic funk and soul, to Motown, disco, pop, and country music, Best Kept Secret covers a wide range of styles
21st December, 2017 - Moon Arra from the Bangalore School of Music, a world fusion band that performs an amalgam of Indian Classical, jazz and world music influences.
