Kundapur, Dec 9: “Congress is shouldering huge responsibility now. It has worked hard to stop exploitation of workers. It has provided ESI and other programmes during its rule. Labour class should support Congress and bring back its glory in Kundapur," said KPCC chief secretary G A Bava.

He addressed the gathering after inaugurating INTUC conference at Kundapur R N Shetty auditorium.

"INTUC was started in the country on May 3, 1947. Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel was its president. Mahatma Gandhi had visited its meeting the next day of its inauguration and blessed it. INTUC is identified in international circles now. It has become a hope for the working class," he said.

Legislative council member Pratapchandra Shetty presided over the conference.



State INTUC president Rakesh Mally said that INTUC has a history of 70 years. "It is an organization which has the largest membership on global level. It is leading in organizing the party. Our workers should prepare to bring Congress back to power in the state. Construction workers are being recruited to strengthen INTUC. The unit will pay the admission fee," he said.

Minority corporation president M A Gafoor said that working class is badly affected by note ban meant by the union government to protect businessmen. "The financial position in the country was better when UPA government was in power. The country has still not recovered by the after effects of vote ban," he said.

District congress president Janardhan Thonse said that workers are facing hardships due to note ban. "Workers should be determined in the next elections and give a fitting reply. The conference is an example for Congress glory. High command should decide about the aspirations of Rakesh Mally," he said.

Kundapur constituency president Malyadi Shivaram Shetty welcomed everyone. Lecturer Akshaya Hegde compered the programme.

"I am an aspirant for Kundapur vidhan sabha constituency. I will contest if the party give me a chance. I request the party leaders to help me serve the people. I was born into a Bunt family. My wife is from Billava community. My parents were identified in politics," said Rakesh Mally.
