Mangaluru Nov 18: “Moodbidiri’s Ashwin Pereira will contest as the JD(S) candidate in the upcoming MLC elections,” said district JD (S) president, Mohammed Kunjhi.
Addressing news conference here on Saturday November 18, he said, “As per the orders of JD(S) state president HD Kumaraswamy, Ashwin Pereira will contest the elections as their candidate from the southwest graduate’s constituency consisting of five districts Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Kodagu, Chikkamagluru and Shivmogga.”
JD(S) general secretary M Sadashiv said, “We can see the repetition of candidates in the election from the national parties, giving no scope for youths to represent and there is no new thinking or concept in them. Youths need to be explored and given opportunity. On this note Ashwin Pereira is the right candidate to contest for the elections.”
JD(S) candidate Ashwin Pereira said, “I thank all the JD(S) leaders for giving me the opportunity to contest for the elections where I will represent southwest graduate constituency. I urge all the graduates to get enrolled for new voters list and from November 22, graduates can get enrolled to the voters list.”
JD(S) youth president Akshith Suvarna, Vasanth Poojary, Naseer, Praveen and others were present.
