Kundapur, Sep 2: Member of Badaguthittu Yakshagana troupe, Almane Padmanabha(43) passed away on Friday, September 1, due to severe illness.

He was famous with his costumes, dance and dialogues and left a stamp of his own in historical and modern plays. After being popular in Perdooru Yakshagana troupe, he was serving in Ajri Chonamane Yakshagana troupe for the last four years as the main artiste.

He was popular in historical plays such as Abhimanyu, Babravahana, Barbarika, Shaneeshwara, Bheeshma, Ishwara and Vikramaditya. He had innumerable fans and several programmes were held to felicitate him. He was awarded several titles and presented awards.

He is survived by his wife. His passing away has left a void in Yakshagana art.
