Udupi: Tributes paid to professor Udupi Ramachandra Rao

Udupi, Jul 27: Researcher Vijaykumar Hegde and Pejawar Swamiji of Sri Krishna Math paid their tributes to late professor Udupi Ramachandra Rao, renowned scientist and former chairman of ISRO, in programme organised at Rajangana hall, Sri Krishna Math, here on Wednesday, July 26.

The veteran Indian space scientist had passed away in Bengaluru, on Monday, July 24.


    








Flowers were offered to the photograph of late Prof U R Rao and respect was paid through silent prayer.

Sri Vishwesha Theertha Swamiji of Paryaya Pejawar Math, speaking on occasion said, "Udupi lost a remarkable scientist. The whole nation must remember him. U R Rao contributed a lot to the development of the nation. His achievement and development will remain forever."

The junior swamiji of Pejawar Math Sri Vishwaprasanna said, "We are eating the fruits of scientist U R Rao's labour. We should always be thankful to him. Everyone should develop and promote his work further. But these days such creativity is fading. Most youngsters aim for ITBT companies."

Researcher Vijaykumar Hegde and head of Physics department  A P Bhat spoke about their bond with professor U R Rao.

CSRI retired vice director A R Upadhyaya expressed, "Rao was a person, with an excellent leadership quality and made an effort to create leaders and train them. A research library in the name of scientist Rao should be installed in the city. It would help memorialise name and achievements. He is a model to all," said Narayan Shanbhag.

Nagarakatte Sri Prajnathma Swamiji and others were present at the programme.
