Uruguayan international Christian Stuani signs with Girona on 3-year contract


Madrid, Jul 22 (IANS): Uruguayan international Christian Stuani has signed a three-year contract with Spain's Girona FC, the newly promoted La Liga football club reported on their website.

Stuani, 30, who began his career in Uruguay, arrived in Europe in January 2008, when he signed for Reggina Calcio in the Italian Serie A, reports Efe.

In 2012-13 season, he was transferred to Espanyol in the first division and played three seasons for the Barcelona club, scoring a 25-goal record in more than a hundred matches.

In July 2015, he moved to Middlesbrough where he netted 11 goals during their promotion season, scoring the decisive goal against Brighton in May 2016 to lift the club into the English Premier League.
