Belagavi, Jul 21: A doctor from Bailahongala town in the district ended his life by injecting himself with an anesthetic. His end came on Thursday July 20.
The doctor in question, Mahadeva Demappa Dasappagol (36), was from Shivabasava Nagara in Bailahongala town. He had tried to end his life on July 18 but had fallen very ill. He was thereafter shifted to a private hospital in the city for treatment.
Without showing improvement in spite of best efforts of the doctors at the hospital, Dasappagol died on Thursday, police personnel stated. Dr Mahadeva was practising at Bailahongala since the last four years.
It is said that the victim was worried over his inability to repay bank loan raised for hospital construction.
