Mangaluru, Jul 20: Chief whip of Karnataka Legislative council, MLC Ivan D'Souza on Thursday, July 20, said that MP Shobha Karandlaje was misleading the union government and defaming the name of Dakshina Kannada. He also said that Congress is consulting the legal team to take action against her.
Addressing media persons at district Congress office, he said, "MP Shobha Karandlaje is dividing the society in the name of community. She submitted a false list of murders and is demanding teh branch of National Investigating Agency (NIA) in Mangaluru. Why is RTI activist Vinayak Baliga and others not mentioned in the list. ? Some of the members in the list she has submitted are still alive. She has also included a few names who were killed in some personal issues, family disputes and suicide,”
“According to her recent speeches and comments, it is proved that she represents only one community. This type of thoughts is against our constitution and law. She is not fit to be a public representative and should resign immediately. She should apologise to the people of Dakshina Kannada district," he added.
"We are consulting our legal team to take action against Shobha Karandlaje regarding this issue. A public representative misleading the government is a criminal offence," he opined.
Earlier, a book to mark Ivan's completion of three years in the capacity of MLC and one year as chief whip of the government in legislative council was released.
District congress president Harish Kumar, deputy mayor Rajneesh, Mamatha Gatti, BH Khadar, Melwyn and others were present.
