Dinakaran's aide Sukesh Chandrashekar denied bail

New Delhi, May 22 (IANS): A special court here on Monday rejected the bail plea of alleged middleman and sidelined AIADMK leader T.T.V. Dinakaran's aide Sukesh Chandrashekar in a bribe case.

Special Judge Poonam Chaudhry said it was not appropriate to grant bail to Chandrashekar at this stage.

The court observed that he is allegedly involved in a serious crime and could tamper with the evidence if released on bail.

The court noted the investigation in the case is still on.

Meanwhile, the court deferred the hearing on the bail plea of Dinakaran and his close aide Mallikarjuna to May 26.

Dinakaran, accused of trying to bribe Election Commission officials to get the 'Two leaves' poll symbol for a party faction led by his aunt V.K Sasikala, was arrested on April 25. Chandrashekar was arrested on April 16.

Dinakaran, Chandrashekar and Mallikarjuna, a long-time friend of Dinakaran, and 'hawala' operator from Delhi Naresh Jain are already in judicial custody till May 29.
