Bengaluru: About 20 BJP and some JD(S) leaders to join Congress- KPCC chief Parameshwara

Bengaluru, Mar 30 (PTI): Karnataka Congress Chief G Parameshwara today claimed that about 20 leaders from BJP and a few from JD(S) will be joining the party in the days to come.

"During my visit to Gundlupet and Nanjanagudu also I had said that few BJP leaders will be joining the party, I have said about 20 of them.....we will have to wait a bit for that time," Parameshwara told reporters here.

He said "I want public to know that people were joining our party also. In the days to come we will inform the people- which leader, from where, and what party will be joining Congress."

Congress which is witnessing an exodus of sorts, suffered a severe blow recently with party veteran and former Chief Minister S M Krishna joining the BJP.

Among the other leaders who quit the party recently to join BJP includes former Ministers Srinivas Prasad, Kumar Bangarappa and K Jayaprakash Hegde.

Stating that a few JD(S) MLAs had met Chief Minister Siddaramaiah recently, Parameshwara said they had also met him.

"They have discussed with me regarding joining the Congress party. We are positively considering it...."

According to sources, most of the suspended JD(S) rebel MLAs were in touch with Congress leadership, and are willing to join the party.

Cracking the whip, JD(S) in June last year had suspended its eight rebel MLAs who voted against its official candidate and supported Congress in the biennial elections to fill four Rajya Sabha seats from Karnataka.

Elections for the 224-member assembly in the state is scheduled for early 2018.

By the way if you also contest from bjp from kalyanpur chances of winning is guaranteed. All bayammas/antennas will cast there vote in your favour...from hoode, tonse. Nobody bother who joined which party. Already over loaded. Can is it possible to give everybody ticket eventhough having eligible candidates. Still.people keep hope on congress..which is almost sinked. Only turban floating up above in punjab and socks in some what north eastern states.

BJP wants nobody other than their castes in the party. Krishna was inducted because he is a Vokkaliga. They do not want an 84 year old man but they need his caste. Yeddy too is wanted for his caste though there are reservations about him in the party. Lingayats are a prominent group. And Eshawarappa is a Kuruba leader. Those who do not fit into these categories may decide to join Congress - the SCs/STs and other OBCs.

Dear Sir, Mr. Krishna's exit WILL NOT affect Congress. Congress is the ONLY secular party having rich tradition/history. PLEASE TAKE IN PEOPLE/LEADERS FROM OTHER PARTIES WHO JOIN WITH ULTERIOR MOTIVES. BUT YOU CONGRESS MEN AND WOMEN NEED TO STRAIGHTEN OUT YOUR HOUSE. ELECTED REPRESENTATIVES SHOULD LEAVE YOUR PERSONAL AGENDA AND WORK FOR THE PEOPLE. And also please take the advise of the veteran congressmen and women who were with Mrs. Indira Gandhi during the tough times in our history and still ARE in party.
PLEASE LOOK INTO THE NEEDS OF THE POOR, ESPECIALLY WHO ARE IN OUR VILLAGES IN KARNATAKA.
PLEASE GO TO PEOPLE AND HEAR THEIR CRY AND TRY TO PUT INTO PRACTICE WHAT YOU PROMISE, REST LEAVE IT TO GOD.
    All the best.

Ramesh, Udupi... you are absolutely correct. by taking 20 leaders from BJP only 20 votes of theirs can come to Congress... but if you take 1 Congressman, 1+1000s of followers votes will come to BJP.

it's only we have to decide whether we have to vote for good party or good leaders.... Atleast you agreed Congress voters seeing the leaders but BJP not.. Thanks :)
