Mangaluru: Jayaram Bhat, Manohar Prasad chosen for Rotary Vandana Award

Mangaluru, Mar 21: Jayaram Bhat, managing director, Karnataka Bank and Manohar Prasad, chief of news bureau of Udayavani Kannada daily have been chosen for the prestigious state-level Rotary annual 'Vandana Award' for the year 2017, in recognition of their invaluable contributions in the field of banking and journalism respectively.

Addressing a press meet here on Tuesday March 21, Dr Devdas Rai, chairman of Vandana awards committee said, "The award is jointly instituted by Rotary Club of Mangalore Central and Rotaract Club of Mangalore City, and is being conferred on Jayaram Bhat in recognition of his exemplary achievements in the field banking, and on Manohar Prasad in appreciation of his lifetime achievements in the field of journalism. The award comprises of a citation, plaque and memento."

Member of the Parliament Nalin Kumar Kateel will grace the occasion as chief guest while Mangaluru City Corporation mayor Kavita Sanil will be the guest of honour and will felicitate the awardees in a function to be held on Friday March 24 at Hotel Motimahal at 8 pm.

President of Rotary Club of Mangalore Central Rtn Anil Gonsalves will preside over the function. Rotary District Zonal lieutenant Rtn Elias Sanctis, District Rotaract representative Rtr Hitaishi, president of Rotaract Club of Mangalore City Rtr Yathish Salian will also be present on this occasion.

Rotary Club and Rotaract Club annually confer their prestigious state-level Vandana Award to achievers in the field of sports, literature, industry, business, banking, music, science, art, culture and social service as a part of the Clubs' vocational service projects, informed Rtn Dr Devdas Rai.
