UP's wonder kids: This 4-year-old Class 9 student wants to break sister's Limca record

Ananya Verma is unlike any four-year-old you've ever met. The toddler has been admitted to Class 9 at St Meera's Inter College in Lucknow, with the consent of the education department.

At 4 years, 8 months and 21 days of age, Ananya may find herself in the Limca Book of Records should she crack the Uttar Pradesh Board Examination two years from now. Interestingly, should Ananya achieve this, she will break the record set by her sister, Sushma Verma, who was a little over 7-years-old when she cleared the Class 10 board examinations in 2007.

At the tender age of 13, Sushma completed her BSc. The 15-year-old is currently persuing her PhD at Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University.

The wunderkids Ananya and Sushma's elder brother, Shailendra, completed his BCA when he was 14-years-old.

Can you say genius?

"Ananya was so talented that none of us could stop her taking admission in class IX. The board permits home education only till class 8. So, now that she speaks fluent Hindi and reads class IX books with ease, she deserves the admission," the Times of India quoted district inspector of schools, Umesh Tripathi, as saying.

Ananya was born on 1 December 2011 to Tej Bahadur, an assistant supervisor (sanitation) at Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University, and Chaya Devi, who is illiterate.

"When Ananya was a year and nine months old, she could read Ramayana and Sundar kaand. We never force her to study. We are a blessed family with all wonder kids," father Bahadur told the TOI.

"She came to us in June and sought admission in class X, saying that since Sushma di got admission in class IX, she wanted in class X. I asked her to read the newspaper and she did like an adult. Her grasping power is commendable. She learns just by seeing and reading," Ananya's principal Anita Ratra told the daily.
