News Agencies | Updated on: 28 February 2017, 12:06 IST

Operations at the state-owned banks will be effected, as the United Forum of Bank Union (UFBU) has called for a day-long strike today.

The union's protest is against wage revision, outsourcing of permanent jobs, inadequate recruitment and improvement in pension schemes in the banks.

The UFBU, comprising of nine unions, AIBEA, AIBOC, NCBE, AIBOA, BEFI, INBEF, INBOC, NOBW and NOBO, will be part of the stir.

The strike will include employees and officers of all public sector banks, including State Bank of India (SBI), all old-generation private banks, foreign banks, regional rural banks and cooperative banks.

Cash transactions will also be impacted and the ATMs are likely to be emptied early during the day.
