Nagapattinam building collapse: CM Palaniswami announces compensation

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswami on 20 October announced a compensation of Rs. 7.5 lakh for next of kin of the eight transport workers, who lost their lives in Nagapattinam building collapse.

Palaniswami also announced a compensation of Rs. 1.5 lakh for those with severe injuries, and Rs. 50,000 for those with mild injuries.

Further, he assured government jobs for any one member of the families of the deceased.

Earlier in the day, eight transport workers died after roof of a bus depot's rest room collapsed.:

Three others injured were rescued from the debris and were shifted to nearby hospital for treatment.
