Modi bhakts use Twitter to trend saffronisation in Uttar Pradesh using #BhagwaInUP

Twitter saw '#BhagwaInUP' trend on 6 August, since early morning. Most of the tweets with the hashtag were talking about saffronisation of Uttar Pradesh and 'protecting' UP from Islamisation.

The handles using #BhagwaInUP had some common characteristics. Most proudly called themselves "bhakts" and claimed to be either NaMo supporters, BJP supporters, Hindu supporters or simply Aam Aadmi Party haters. Some even have Modi's image as the Profile Picture and Cover Picture.

The trend was started by a Twitter handle 'Raja Kumar (Romeo)' who calls himself a Modi fan and has the PM's image as his DP as well as cover picture.

It seems even as Prime Minister Narendra Modi is busy portraying himself as a leader who is pro 'development', his followers and fans have clearly misunderstood what he means by 'development'. The sheer fact that his followers are busy planning campaigns to make saffronisation trend at a time when bigger issues plague the country is telling by itself.

Following are some of the tweets by Modi lovers:
