MEA hits back at Pakistan, says India will not tolerate interference in internal matters

Official spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs, Vikas Swarup responded to the special meeting of Cabinet of Pakistan on 15 July saying that India unambiguously rejects Pakistan's decisions on recent developments in Jammu and Kashmir.

The Ministry of External Affairs hit out at Pakistan stating that India would not tolerate interference of any kind in internal matters.

The statement also added that self-serving actions by Pakistan in the last few days to draw political mileage out of the recent developments in Jammu and Kashmir follow planned infiltration and terrorism aimed at India from across the Line of control and International boundary.

Earlier in the day, Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif announced that 19 July would be observed as black day in Pakistan against the "atrocities by forces" in Kashmir.

He made the announcement while addressing a special Cabinet meeting in Lahore.

"Pakistan would continue to extend moral, political and diplomatic support for Kashmiris in their just struggle for right to self-determination," Pakistan media quoted the Prime Minister as saying.

Last week, Nawaz Sharif had deplored "excessive" force against civilians in the latest wave of violence in the Valley while expressing "deep shock" over the killing of Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani.

"The Prime Minister of Pakistan has expressed his deep shock at the killing of Kashmiri leader Burhan Wani and many other civilians by the Indian military and paramilitary forces," Sharif's office said in the statement.

The MEA concluded saying India hoped that Pakistan would desist from interfering in India's internal affairs and destabilise the situation through support to terrorism and other subversive acts.
